SUMMARY:
The Brazilian grape and wine sector is on the rise, since 2020 Brazil has recorded an increase in wine consumption driven, unfortunately, by the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic. This increase has contributed to the high demand for glass bottles, the main packaging used by the sector due to its unique properties. However, currently such packaging does not have, in most cases, an adequate destination, contributing to the overload of landfills. Only 25% of the glass in the country is recycled and to produce a new bottle, 70% of the material used is sand. To produce a glass bottle from recycled glass, in the form of shards, 80% of this waste could be used. Glass recycling actions in Brazil are still little stimulated, as evidenced by the derisory value of R$ 0.10 cents for each 1 kg of recycled glass. The general objective of this project was to propose an innovative business model capable of stimulating the practice of actions based on the concept of circular economy for glass bottles. and Engineering Village), gray literature, INPI, and interviews and meetings with potential partners. Preliminary results prove the existence of few actions aimed at the EC of glass in Brazil and the lack of an innovative artifact to change this scenario.
